Brea Sondhi is an Indian lesbian writer and filmmaker across New York and New Delhi. 

Her work spans novels, television, film, and essays, blending humor, heart, and surrealist flair to center queer, diasporic characters in universally human stories. In her stories, grief is never far from joy, and she celebrates unlikely friendships and the relationship we have with ourselves. 

Brea has written her debut literary fiction novel that explores speculative memory tech, and queer, multi-cultural healing, and love that transforms. She is currently taking her manuscript into the query and publishing process. 

Brea also works across the full spectrum of filmmaking as a writer, actor, director, and producer. Her debut short film, Enough, has screened at international festivals across the U.S., Canada, and India, including the Oscar-accredited BISFF Bengaluru. A two-time Austin Film Festival Screenwriting Competition Second Rounder and PAGE International Award Quarter Finalist, Sondhi’s scripts have won placements at several international screenwriting competitions for her comedy-drama TV pilot Nina & The In-Betweeners, and feature drama Look, Kid. Her short film script, Talking To God, earned a production grant as a top 3 finalist in Kinolime Studio’s South Asia Shorts competition.

After a decade in clean-energy tech, Brea could no longer squeeze stories into the margins of her life and left product management to build her creative studio. Beyond film, Brea runs an independent publication on Substack, performs original bilingual music, and teaches yoga. 

Brea moves through life with kindness in every breath, and her work is grounded in a mission to spark inner change that ripples out into a more human, more loving world.
