I write about the mess and magic that comes with change.

Across genre and form, I tell stories in the medium that best serves them, whether that’s a comedy-drama series, a literary fiction novel, or a personal essay.

I put queer people, especially women in diaspora, at the center of universally human stories. Our identities are our lens, never the plot. I’m drawn to inner worlds and the grey spaces between grief and joy, but my work is never far from a laugh. I weave questions about the systems we live within through every story, often using speculative worlds and surrealism to reveal how even seemingly unchangeable systems can be changed.

Scripts

TV Comedy-Dramas are my special sauce. I also write shorts and features, and work in production to help bring stories to life.

My debut pilot, Nina & The In-Betweeners, has placed in four international screenwriting competitions, including Austin Film Festival and PAGE International Awards

My short script, Talking To God,  is currently a top 3 finalist in Kinolime’s South Asia Shorts competition for a production grant.

In my independent publication Brea Is Too Much, I publish essays exploring queerness in diaspora, the inner workings of my artistic process, and personal stories about family, love, and healing.

“Such a wonderful blend of humor and vulnerability in this piece! Thanks for normalizing the internalized shame that so many of us carry but have great trouble externalizing.”

Keith A
Author of Big Blue Sky Dragonfly on Substack

“Brea has penned a well-wrought look at internalized homophobia and its inherent shame, using her literal nakedness on a tour of Japanese onsens (hotsprings) as a metaphor for the vulnerability of embracing identity.”

Mr. Troy Ford
Founder & Editor of QStack: The LGBTQAI+ Forum

“Brea, The gentleness you named...That's the part I hadn't quite articulated to myself until I read your response. That's its own kind of precision. Thank you for writing something that made that possible.”

Literary Fiction

It’s querying season—

My dual-protagonist literary fiction novel blends speculative memory technology with queer diaspora, telling the individual and shared stories of two women whose chance encounter changes the course of their lives, even though they were never supposed to meet.

With a complete manuscript, I am actively seeking the right champion to bring this story to publishers.
